A celebration of Eugen Doga’s birthday took place at the Kremlin Palace. 06.03.2017

Love has become the leitmotif of all of the composer’s work. And it is to love that thecelebratory concert was dedicated.

Eugen Doga is one of those composers who are equally well-known and loved by colleagues as well as the public.

Maestro gathered together the appreciators of his work in Moscow, where he has become fully accomplished as a composer.

Famous Russian performers along with Moldova natives expressed their respect and gratefulness to the Maestro for the unique opportunity to come in contact with his healing music and to witness the legend.

His melodies are in the hearts of millions of people. His music still sounds at wedding ceremonies and his waltz is danced to at High School graduations. His waltz from the film “My Sweet and Tender Beast” has become the artist’s trademark.

“The love theme fascinates me. Love of life, love of this wonderful nature,” says the Maestro.

Valentina Nafornita, soloist of the Vienna Opera, winner of the BBC competition Cardiff Voices 2015, opened the concert with the cantata White Rainbow to verses by Emil Loteanu, accompanied by the "Masters of Choral Singing" Grand Academic Choir and the Russian Philharmonics Orchestra conducted by Sergei Tararin. The host of the evening, Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Oleshko sang the famous song My White City, which has been the hymn of Kishinev for many years. Eugen Doga wrote this song together with the poet George Voda in 1971 (Russian version by Vladimir Lazarev). Additionally, there was a performance by the young violinists from the Skripunyata ensemble that won the audience’s hearts. 

Eugen Doga’s songs were performed by Valentina Biryukova and Sergei Volchkov, Leonid Serebryannikov, Nina, Ekaterina Guseva, Zara, Tamara Gvertseteli, Varvara, Metodie Buzhor, and Alexander Cogan. Accordionist Nikita Vlasov performed two pieces for accordion.

Russian poet Andrei Dementiev, to whose verses Maestro Eugen Doga has composed many songs, attended the concert and congratulated the composer on his anniversary.

For almost three hours, in the hall filled with over 5,000 people, divine creativity, respect and admiration for the most adored Moldovan composer, a classic of national and world music, reigned supreme.The concert ended with long applause and a sea of flowers. "I thank the country called Russia: it gave me the opportunity to evolve, to meet with the audience on this wonderful stage. It is great happiness to be understood, to have peace in your soul".

The main theme of the concert program was the theme of peace. There fore, according to the artist, the concert began with the song White Rainbow, which is similar to the sun. In addition, the concert included numerous songs about love, songs dedicated to the mother, to the woman, to love.

"I have included manysongs about love, have given many emotions to the image of the mother and the woman, because this is what keeps us in this world, what inspires us, and what gives us hope that the world will not cease to exist thanks to women, thanks to mothers," said Maestro Eugen Doga, to whom Moldova dedicated the year of 2017.

Eugene Doga is still composingnew music. With his melodies he calls for a world without war and for love towards each other.
