Moldovan president visits great composer of Moldova on occasion of birthday. Moldpres. 1.03.2024

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today visited Master composer Eugen Doga and congratulated him on his 87th birthday anniversary, the presidential press service has reported.

„The spring in Moldova fits its first steps in the tender rhythm of the nicest waltzes ever composed. Symbolically and fully non-accidentally, the man who showed the beauty of the world through his music, the one who showed, through his music, the beauty of our land to the entire world, was born on this day,’’ the head of state said in her congratulatory message to Eugen Doga.

President Maia Sandu highlighted the matchless talent of master Doga, which has been polished by much work during years.

„When 14 years old, he came to Chisinau – barefooted, starving and with borrowed money for travel – the boy who after years was to become the Great Eugen Doga. ‘’Everything was easy for me; I was able to start doing everything and I believe that I would have been successful,’’ the composer used to say sometimes, but we know already that fingers stained with blood from 10-12 hours of exercises per day were behind this ‘’easy.’’ Namely those fingers stained with blood made his music flow easily, as if it was composed by itself,’’ the Moldovan president said.

The head of state noted that Eugen Doga was known, loved and applauded much outside Moldova and covered an existential trajectory of legend.

„Today, Eugen Doga marks his 87th birthday anniversary. I found him with the same conquering smile which we have always known, with subtle ironies and appetite for life going from the eyes. We are happy, dear master, to have you with us and to thank you that, through your music, the hearts of many millions of people felt themselves lighter, better, freer to love. We wish you from the bottom of our hearts a long life, good health and the happiness of all fulfilments!’’ President Maia Sandu added.
